Contributing to team effectiveness
It’s not enough to be world-class as an individual in your role, though this certainly is a great start. The best individual without a great team will only ever achieve a fraction of what they can in a high performing team. The only thing that an individual can ultimately control within a team is their own contribution to it.
We run a range of workshops designed around your specific situation to help people get better at contributing to the team. This is not a team building concept per se, but rather it helps to expand the individuals understanding of what makes a great team, and the attitudes, skills and behaviours that they can display to help them contribute more effectively to any team.
Working in a high performing team is like being part of a successful marriage. It requires hard work, discipline and sometimes a willingness to put the team’s goals before your personal needs and desires. It is not easy, and there are far more examples of low-performing teams than the other way around.
But the benefits for the team and its individuals when they perform as a whole, integrated and aligned, are enormous. You get immense personal and professional satisfaction, and typically you receive a range of rewards for your team’s success.
We have developed a range of workshops for effective team-working and improving each individual’s contribution to their team. Our approach has been influenced by many years of research into how the best team players actually behave and the kinds of attitudes, skills and behaviours that others can model to improve themselves. Moreover, our work with Shane Sutton, Head Coach of the BOCA, has allowed us to refine our models and incorporate the distinctions made by one of the most successful teams in the world.
Since nearly all of us work in teams of one sort or another, these sessions are appropriate for almost anyone in the organisation. The context maybe different, but the principles hold true if you want to be the best you can be.
